November is National Adoption Month

By Aura | November 12, 2020

November is the time of year when families come together to celebrate and enjoy each other’s company. What you might not know is that November is also National Adoption Month – a special time to celebrate adoptive families. Today, there are more than 120,000 children in the U.S. foster care system but only two percent of American families say they’ve adopted children and one-third say they’d consider adopting.

At Aura, we believe that every child deserves a home with a loving family, where they can make happy memories and grow into their full potential. As we raise awareness this month, we hope that more families will consider adopting children of their own, especially teenagers who tend to age out of the foster care system.

We chose to celebrate adoption alongside millions of families because this topic is often overlooked. But luckily, today more families than ever are sharing their personal adoption stories. Over the next several weeks, we’ll be highlighting a handful of these families through a blog series. Their unique stories and advice are inspirational and show just how joyful, meaningful, and rich life can be as an adoptive family. Stay tuned! And read on for more information about how you can get involved in the adoption community.
